Screening and Selection Procedures

Harmony Healthcare HIM employs full time recruiters that focus exclusively on locating, processing, hiring, and retaining the best and brightest HIM professionals across the country. Our hiring process is rigorous and results in passing an average of 20% of those who apply. This reduces the number of people who join our team and makes our recruiting efforts more difficult. Using this rigorous process we are assured of hiring the most qualified HIM professionals throughout the industry. Each candidate is interviewed by the recruiter to assess their skills and aptitude for the position they are apply for. They are required to take the Harmony Healthcare HIM Pre-Employment Coding Test that coordinates with the skill set found on the applicants resume. Each test is compiled of sections covering the following:
  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Inpatient and/or Outpatient Coding (ICD-9,CPT,HCPCS)
  • Facility & Professional Fee E&M
  • Coding Auditing
  • Management 

If they receive an outstanding score on the coding test, they are interviewed by our Compliance Manager (post assessment) in order to assure you of the proper match. Three professional references are conducted on each applicant and background/drug screens are done as needed.

Remote Medical Coding Support
In addition to on-site coding support, Harmony provides remote coding support for facilities. Harmony provides your health system with dedicated scan technicians who will scan the medical records you provide and make them electronically available to a coder. Our program allows us to scan and code any type of medical record including inpatient discharges, observation services, emergency department services, outpatient/ancillary services and same day surgery. We can do the scanning- not your department. We can offer you savings of 25% or more off the rates of your typical travel coders. Harmony offers the following deliverables for remote coding support:
  • Remote access to encoder for entering all codes.
  • Ensure medical records are available for scanning each day.
  • Designate a point of contact to serve as liaison between the medical facility health system and Harmony’s staff.
