Health Information Management is the management of personal health information in hospitals or other healthcare organizations enabling the delivery of quality healthcare to the public. The American Heath Information Management Association (AHIMA) defines Health Information Management (HIM) as "The study of the principles and practices of acquiring, analyzing, and protecting digital and traditional medical information vital to providing quality patient care". “HIM is the link to clinicians, technology designers, and information technology; and is the value-adding bridge between patients’ health information and payors, government, and regulating agencies. HIM practitioners demonstrate leadership and management of health information in all formats (paper, scanned, or computerized forms), and are a critical component of the electronic health record (EHR) workforce".
Harmony Healthcare HIM delivers to both hospital and unique settings including:
Traditional medical records departments, tumor registry, coding, quality improvement, utilization review, consulting firms, government agencies, law firms, insurance companies, correctional facilities, extended care facilities, pharmaceutical research, information technology and medical software companies.
Screening and Selection Procedures
Harmony Healthcare HIM employs full time recruiters that focus exclusively on locating, processing, hiring, and retaining the best and brightest HIM professionals across the country. Our hiring process is rigorous and results in passing an average of 20% of those who apply. This reduces the number of people who join our team and makes our recruiting efforts more difficult. Using this rigorous process we are assured of hiring the most qualified HIM professionals throughout the industry. Each candidate is interviewed by the recruiter to assess their skills and aptitude for the position they are apply for. They are required to take the Harmony Healthcare HIM Pre-Employment Coding Test that coordinates with the skill set found on the applicants resume. Each test is compiled of sections covering the following:
- Anatomy & Physiology
- Inpatient and/or Outpatient Coding (ICD-9,CPT,HCPCS)
- Facility & Professional Fee E&M
- Coding Auditing
- Management
If they receive an outstanding score on the coding test, they are interviewed by our Compliance Manager (post assessment) in order to assure you of the proper match. Three professional references are conducted on each applicant and background/drug screens are done as needed.
